What is NLP?

NLP Therapy is a brief and solution focused therapy, which helps people to change patterns of thinking, feeling or behaving which are not currently being experienced positively. Many of these patterns are learnt outside our awareness and by engaging our unconscious mental resources you can initiate and make changes which help you to become even more of yourself.

Karen has developed a number of workshops, NLP Diploma and NLP Practitioner courses aimed at Health, Fitness and Equestrian Professionals. See web sites

Supervision is a process, which aims to provide a supportive alliance between you and your supervisor. This approach will assist you to reflect on your practice in order that you can maintain the highest standards of working and continue to develop your professional skills resulting in enhancement of your therapeutic practice.

Why do you need supervision?

One of the purposes of supervision is to ensure that you work safely within the limits of your training, experience and ability so that you can protect your own well being and practice safely with your clients. Supervision is about helping you to grow and expand as a professional increasing your skills, experience and confidence. Supervision is rapidly becoming a mandatory requirement for many ethical therapy bodies.

What can supervision do for you?

  • Develop your therapeutic practice
  • Enhance effective working with clients
  • A supportive and empathetic space for you to discuss your client work
  • Develop your professional skills
  • Help you to Reflect and develop your personal and professional self-awareness

Why is supervision important?

It is important to gain supervision for a number of reasons. Many therapists work in isolation and there fore do not have any other therapists to use as a benchmark to compare themselves against. Supervision can act as that much needed external reflection. With out a regular evaluation of confidence versus competence the therapist may begin to feel that their development is static. Supervision is a means to encourage progress and focus on continuous practice development to support effective therapeutic practice and standards.
Supervision ensures that the therapist practices within the ethical boundaries of their governing bodies that ensure the clients well-being and safety.

Which therapies do I provide supervision for?

I can provide supervision for Healthcare professionals who work within the NHS or in Private practice. I work with counsellors and psychotherapists who are both registered and training for BACP or UKCP accreditation. I also provide supervision for therapists working in the complementary or alternative field in both human and animal practice.

How often do I need supervision?

The frequency of your supervision will largely be determined by the requirements of your registering body. If this is not the case I would simply suggest that you access supervision on a regular monthly basis depending on how many clients you are working wit

How do you access supervision?

  • In-person supervision
  • Group supervision
  • Telephone supervision
  • Internet based supervision using Skype  (

EFT is a simple and powerful therapeutic tool that uses word to tune into an emotional disturbance that is then balanced and cleared away using simple acupressure tapping. The results are fast and generally lasting. Strong emotions such as fear, anger, guilt, shame and sadness dissolve into clear thinking allowing the person to see other perspectives and change feelings and behaviour.

EFT is a simple yet powerful technique that Karen uses to empower the client for self-help to continue working after sessions for as long as the individual chooses to use the tool.
The technique was derived from Thought Field Therapy and is simple to learn and suitable for all

What can EFT be used for?

  • Fears  & Anxieties
  • Phobias

Telephone sessions are also available as part of the EFT service that Karen provides giving easy access to the benefits of the therapy.

Information about Physical Therapies

(The Equine version of this therapy is called Equine Muscle Release Therapy)

Bowtech allows the body to reset and heal itself.  A Bowen treatment consists of a series of gentle moves on skin (or through light clothing).  A session usually lasts from half an hour to an hour and frequently results in a deep sense of overall relaxation, allowing the body to recharge and balance itself.

There are many theories as to how Bowtech works, but none completely explain its holistic effect and often outstanding results.  It does not impose a particular approach on the client.  Instead, it encourages a gentle response which empowers the body's own resources to heal itself.  Bowen moves are a study in delicacy, being light, gentle and very precise.
The Bowen Technique is not necessarily a 'long-term' treatment programme.  Most clients find that a small number of treatments are adequate even for long-standing complaints.
The Bowen Technique is considered safe to use on anyone, from new- born babies to the elderly.  Some of the wide ranges of conditions that may respond well to Bowen are;

  • Sports injuries
  • Stress & Tension symptoms
  • Back pain and Sciatica
  • RSI & Tennis Elbow
  • Neck & Shoulder problems
  • Knee & Ankle problems
  • Respiratory conditions & Hay fever
  • Menstrual Irregularities
  • Migraines & Headaches
  • Chronic viral fatigue syndrome & M.E.
  • Pregnancy & Childhood disorders

Karen uses this approach of body therapy to help the person to put their own body back into balance to improve their physical and emotional health and well-being.

Therapeutic Touch (TT) is a practice that provides a way of channelling energy to promote physical, mental and emotional healing.  It has a balancing effect bringing the body into harmony.   TT is a gentle, holistic, non-invasive treatment.  Therapeutic Touch can be used for all kinds of problems/ailments, however you do not have to be suffering from an ailment to benefit from TT.  It can be a wonderful tonic and is very relaxing.

TT originally foundered by Dr Dolores Kreiger, Professor of Nursing USA and was brought to this country by Jeannie Sayre- Adams and Stephen Wright.

Karen teaches individuals or small groups of no more than four people to learn Therapeutic for them by request.

She also teaches people to use TT for their animals.
